Holst and Saint Saens

December 8 & 9 at Powell Symphony Hall Gerard Schwarz is directing the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and women of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus in a delightful musical experience.

Saint Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor displays Andre Watts' virtuosic technique, and Holst's: The Planets are "pure technicolor", and bold orchestra sounds. The music is as vivid as the heavenly bodies it describes.

Daniel Baremboim master class

So far videos with wonderfull life performances have been presented in this website, but know I would like to take the opportunity in this post to present a video of educational nature. Maestro Daniel Baremboim is giving a life master class to internationally recognized pianist Lang Lang. The Piece playing is the Beethoven Sonata in f minor (Apassionata). It is very interesting to see why Baremboim is not only a great pianist, but also a great artist.

The Cadenza of the Rach 3

Yefim Bronfman is the soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Valery Gergiev. Suntory Hall, Tokyo, November 21, 2004

This is one of the best recordings of the cadneza I have ever seen/heard. Mr. Bronfman's techniche, direction and emotion blend perfectly to depict a wonderful performance of the Rachmaninoff third concerto. enjoy!
